This contemplative prayer station uses manikins and chalk to facilitate reflection on self-image issues.
Directions for Leadership:
Go to a few department stores and find out if they have any used manikins that they would be willing to donate, or sell. Spray paint them with chalk board paint and then dress them in such a way that “skin” still shows so people can write on it.
Create a space where people can sit around the standing manikins, place a table nearby with the instructions below and a basket of chalk.
Prayer Station Instructions:
Take a moment to allow yourself to relax; take a few deep breathes. Acknowledge God’s presence with you now.
What do you believe about the way you look?
Who taught you how to look at yourself?
Are you content with your body or do you think God could have done better?
Ask God how He wants you to think and feel about your body?
Write some of your thoughts on that last question onto the manikin with the chalk provided.
