Photography and Relationships

This contemplative prayer station uses visual art to stimulate prayer for our relationships.

Directions for Leadership:

Set up a table with chairs.  On the table place a nice cloth, candles, and 4×5 copies of photographs or paintings of abstract images.

You can ask various people in the faith community or congregation to bring in some of their photographs and paintings that capture elusiveness or anything rather abstract.   They needed to be copies that they don’t mind getting fingerprints on, or in a frame to protect it.  Some are available from this open source photo website: http://morguefile.com

Something to consider; when done with the photos or paintings, hold a silent auction for them over a couple weeks and give the money to charity.

Prayer Station Instructions:

Remember your childhood days when you would look at clouds and try and guess what objects they resembled? Sift through these photographs and look for images that symbolize or remind you of a relationship in your life.

Once you have found one, or a few, take time to hold that relationship before God.

Make sure to take time to listen to what God may be prodding you towards in that relationship.

Be attentive to God’s still small voice.
