Photography and our Journey

This contemplative prayer station uses photography to stimulate personal reflection and prayer concerning where we are in our faith journey both individually and communally.

Directions for Leadership:

Set up a table with chairs.  On the table place a nice cloth, candles, 4×5 photographs, bibles (for people to look up the scriptures) and the directions below.

The photographs should be of people doing various actions. For example: running, gardening, dancing, weeping, hiding, laughing, perhaps a person giving birth, dying, starving, gulping water, etc.

You can print photos from http://morguefile.com. Or you can ask people from your faith community in advance if they have some for you all to use, but make sure they are copies and can get finger prints on them.

Prayer Station Directions:

On the table are various photos, find one (or a few) that you feel represents where you are in your life with God, at this moment in time.

Take time to sit and talk with God.  Ask God if where you are is a good place. Is it where God wants you to be?  Is it just part of the journey or are you taking side trips?

Take time to sit and listen to what God wants to say to you through the photograph.

Be attentive to God’s still small voice.
