This contemplative prayer station allows people to deal with emotions they have been ignoring, suppressing, or avoiding telling God. It can be used on its own or in tandem with the other “Love God” stations.
Directions for Leadership:
Set up a table with tons of pictures, like the ones here, scattered around along with a few copies of the station directions. On the table should b
e pencils, pens, crayons and paper for people to use.
The pictures should be ones you have taken of individuals in various emotional states. These examples were found at http://morguefile.com which is a free photography site.
Prayer Station Directions:
Our culture, for the last several hundred years, has elevated logic and rational thought above all else. Emotion and the irrational have not only been devalued, but looked on as negative attributes. But God made us to be
whole beings, with logic and emotion, the rational and irrational in balance. Both informing our lives.
Look at the pictures around this page.
Which ones describe your deepest feelings at the moment?
Take some time to look at your emotional self. Try to keep yourself from making judgments about what you are allowed or not allowed to feel. Allow yourself to be authentic with God.
Feel free to write, draw or journal in order to help in this process.
