Love God w/ Heart

This contemplative prayer station uses a floor plan of a house (your heart) to visual walk people through specific prayer topics.
———————————————————–
Directions for Leadership: Set up in a secluded area with a few chairs and pillows around a floor plan taped of on the ground. Label the floor plan with the Labels provided below and place the directions around the room so people can walk in and pick them up.
—————————————————————–
INSTRUCTIONS
On the floor is a “floor plan” of your heart. At this time mentally walk through the floor plan and prayerfully examine your heart and the “rooms” within.
Think about the ways you interact with God, or how you ignore God in each room. God asks us to love him with ALL of our heart. Stand in the room you are struggling with the most and invite God to enter there.
This week, every time you enter the room in your physical home that you struggle the most with in your heart, let it be a reminder of this conversation with God.

*Special Note: If you are letting God through the “front door” for the first time, we would ask that you find the station with the prayer ministers and share that with them so that they may support you.

Take Me

Welcome to this heart of mine
I’ve buried under prideful vines
Grown to hide the mess I’ve made
Inside of me

Come decorate, Lord
Open up the creaking door
And walk upon the dusty floor
Scrape away the guilty stains
Until no sin or shame remain

Spread Your love upon the walls
And occupy the empty halls
Until the man I am has faded
No more doors are barricaded

Come inside this heart of mine
It’s not my own
Make it home
Come and take this heart
and make it
All Your own
Welcome home

Take a seat, pull up a chair
Forgive me for the disrepair
And the souvenirs from floor to ceiling
Gathered on my search for meaning
Every closet’s filled with clutter
Messes yet to be discovered

I’m overwhelmed, I understand
I can’t make this place
all that You can
I took the space that You placed in me
Redecorated in shades of greed

And I made sure
every door stayed locked
Every window blocked,
and still You knocked

Take me, make me
All You want me to be
That’s all I’m asking, all I’m asking

Love God w/ Mind

This contemplative prayer station is used to introduce people to our rich Christian heritage promoting Deep Church and a sense of community that spans generations.
——————-
Directions for Leadership:
Make an area where you can scatter books all around (either from you and your friends libraries or the church library) that deal with church history, our church fathers, or other people from your particular denominational heritage for people to brows through. Make sure you place paper and pencils so people can write down books they are interested in.
———————-
Directions:

Reading is one of many ways we learn. We have a wealth of brilliant thinkers from this present generation and back into our rich history who have wrestled with God and written their conclusions down.

Please look through the books around the area, read a few pages and if you find one that intrigues you write down the Title and Author. We may have a copy in our Library. If not you will most likely find the best prices online.

Love God w/ Mind - Memorization

Memorization is a way to love God with all your mind. It also is something the bible fully endorses.
————————————————————-
Directions for leadership:
In a sectioned off area place a table with chairs and enough bibles, concordances, pens, paper and other items that are helpful in memorizing. Place the following instructions around the table as well. Taylor the Directions as you need to for your given situation. Make sure it is well lit.
————————————————————
Directions:
“Guard my words as your most precious possession. Write them down, and also keep them deep within your heart.” Proverbs 7: 2- 3

Take some time to memorize God’s words. On the table is a list of several Bible verses for you to choose from. If you have a specific topic, such as fear or patience, and would like to memorize a verse that is relevant to that there is a concordance for your use on the table and several Bibles. If you do not know how to find verses in the Bible please go to the prayer ministry station and ask one of them, they will be happy to show you.

Listed are different ways in which you can memorize scripture:

1.Take a paper and pen and copy the verse over and over until you can write it with out looking.
2.Repeat the verse to yourself over and over again, either silently or out loud.
3.Create an anagram or a poem that makes the verse easier to remember.
4.Think of images that go along with each phrase.
5.Create a little song out of the verse.
6.Take a paper and pencil and write the verse. Then erase or cover a word and repeat the verse. Slowly continue deleting words out until you can say the whole thing with out help.

Why should we memorize scripture?
It helps to resist temptation.
“I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Ps. 119:11
It helps in making wise decisions.
“Your Word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path.” Ps. 119:105
It strengthens you when under stress.
“…Your promises to me are my hope. They give me strength in all my troubles; how they refresh and revive me!” Ps. 119:49 (LB)
It comforts.
“Your words are what sustain me…They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me.” Jer. 15:16 (LB)
God asks us to. “Guard my words as your most precious possession. Write them down, and also keep them within your heart.” Proverbs 7: 2-3
