Smashing Idols
By admin on Mar 20, 2008 | In All, Inward Focused | Send feedback »
This contemplative Prayer Station allows people to identify things that they allow to control their life (Idols) and then to smash it in the presence of God.
Thanx to Jason Feffer and his community for this awesome station!

Directions for Leadership:
Set up is easy. All you need is a table, lots and lots of clay or playdoh, and the direction below.

——————————————
Directions and Scripture To Place on The Table:
Take a moment to quiet yourself and then invite God into this space with you.
Ask God to help you realize what you have let control your life and that you hold your decisions against. This Idol could be anything from an object like money, to a person like a significant other, to a thing like school or work.
Using the clay on the table make a symbol or representation of that Idol in your life.
When done, ask God to forgive you and to help you place him back as your True God. Then smash the Idol you made out of clay. Don’t be afraid to bang away!
1 Samuel 13:21 Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.
Psalm 96:5 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
2 Corinthians 6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
