Contemplative Prayer Stations

Worship music is to narrow a term. This contemplative prayer station uses all sorts of music to bring people into a place of worship.

Directions for leadership:
This station is one of my favorites! Set up a several tables in a line, (since this station is linear, with a beginning and an end) and make them look nice. Set up 8 or so cd players or mp3 players. There should be only one song playing on each player (that repeat button finally comes in handy. Each player needs headphones and make sure the volume is loud enough to drown out back ground noise, but not so loud to cause deafness. Each players song should be distinctly different… I would suggest Chinese drums, something celtic, something techno, guitar, orchestra, that sweet Lincin Park song that is just music, maybe something with words - a classified “worship” song from traditional church, U2’s Still haven’t found what I am lookin for….

At the beginning of the table place the directions below, and at the end of a table place a journal and pen for people to write down their experience. We found it is best to have the lights down low, or just candles (like with most stations), so make sure thier is enough light by the journal.

Wordless Worship
Part 1: Audio

Directions:

On the tables are several CD players with different music playing on each one. Choose one and listen for a while; whilst you listen think about the questions that are written next to the player. Please listen to at least three different CDs, if not all of them. When you are done listening, please go over to the journal at the last table and fallow the directions there.

*Side note*
The player should already be going, just put on the headphones. If there is a problem, see Faith (the redhead sitting somewhere around here).
