Conversation with God

This contemplative prayer station helps people move from just throwing out thoughts and phrases into the empty air to an abstract being, to intimate conversation.  One of the many ways people pray to God is to imagine God sitting next to them, conversing, as if it were your neighbor or friend sitting there.  This station is used with permission from Andre McFall.

Directions for Leadership:

Set up a secluded area that feels comfortable, like a living room nook, and place two chairs there.  On a side table place the instructions below.  This station only accommodates one person at a time.

Prayer Station Instructions:
The Bible constantly refers to God as our friend, but sometimes God can feel very distant. At this station you will get an opportunity to try and close the gap.
Take a seat in one of the chairs, and in the chair opposite you imagine God Himself sitting there.  It may be easier to picture the human God became, Jesus.

Take a few moments and have a conversation.
Ask Him questions, tell Him your thoughts, or just have a conversation.
And don’t just talk; wait awhile.  Be patient, and see what God says to you.
